Pack Meeting TONIGHT, Tuesday 10/21

We have A LOT of new Bobcats to welcome into Pack 825, so join us this evening for our Bobcat Ceremony.

We also have many belt loops and pins to hand out, popcorn updates, information on upcoming outings, and a whole lot of fun!

Meeting starts at 7pm at the OUMC.  Scouts, please wear your Class A uniforms.

Today only you may still sign up for the Creeper Trail outing this weekend (please note date change).  You may also register for our November outing -- Wild Cave Tour and Overnight in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Signup now for Caving Overnight

Last year was our first trip to the Wild Cave Tour and Overnight in the Smoky Mountains, and it was FUN!!  This year we'll be doing it again for those who didn't go, or just want to go again.

We will descend about 100 steps into Craighead Caverns - used by the Cherokee Indians, Confederate Army, and even a giant Pleistocene Era jaguar whose tracks have been found deep within the cave.  The Scouts will have fun exploring caverns, climbing through cracks and crevices, and even taking a boat ride on the American's largest underground lake.  Afterwards, we will spend the night in a large cavern before climbing back up the next morning.

URGENT changes to Creeper trip!

I apologize, but I have made a mistake in the signup for the Creeper trip this weekend.  Our bike trip is not until Sunday, so we will be driving up Saturday afternoon and packing out Monday morning.  This will give us more time to get up there instead of having to rush up Friday afternoon and trying to set up camp in the dark.  There is no school on Monday; however, there will be time to pack up if you need to leave Sunday evening after our bike ride.

If you wish to go on this trip now that the days have changed, please contact me ASAP.  I have reopened registration for today only.

VA Creeper Deadline is TOMORROW

We still have space available for our Virginia Creeper bike ride and campout for next weekend. If you haven't been before, this is a beautiful ALL DOWNHILL bike ride through the mountains on a (mostly) paved trail. We will be camping in a National Park on Friday night, taking a shuttle to the top of a mountain on Saturday morning, and spend the day passing through small towns, crossing over creeks, and watching the leaves change for Fall. Saturday night we'll be back at our campground where the Scouts will learn camping skills such as fire building, cooking over a campfire, and having fun!

Please note that all attendees need to purchase a shuttle ticket to go on the trail. The $45 fee includes camping, food, supplies, and shuttle to the top of the mountain. You can rent a bike for an extra $10, or bring your own. Choices of bike rental include adult, child, or tagalong (this is a half bike that attaches to an adult bike for children who may not be able to navigate the trip alone - see image). Please specify on your signup which bike(s) you'd like to rent. If you've already signed up and wish to change your choices, please email Talisha.

One of our most anticipated events - a beautiful bike trip and camping overnight in the Virginia mountains. Signup here. Deadline is Friday, September 25th!

More Popcorn Booth Opportunities This Weekend!

We have added more booth locations for popcorn sales this weekend.  Click here to sign up!
  • Walmart Hillsborough - 501 Hampton Pointe at the corner of Old 86 and I-85
  • Lowes Chapel Hill - 201 Sage Road
  • UNC Tailgating -- UNC is playing Virginia Tech at 12:30pm this Saturday, October 4th.  If you would like to pick up popcorn to sell at your favorite tailgating location, you can sign up to receive up to $100 worth (so 10 bags of Caramel Corn at $10 each).  Any unsold popcorn can be returned.  You must sign up as this is limited to only six Scouts!
Also, Wagon sales will now be pushed back to after our last booth date, which is October 11th.  You may come by the Harvest Festival (at the OUMC) on 10/11 to pick up popcorn for your wagon, or contact our Popcorn Kernel, Renee´ Ferrari, to arrange pickup.  Wagon sales are easy to do -- just load up a wagon or other pull cart and have your Scout go around your neighborhood.  A friendly Scout in uniform is hard to resist!

Please note:  We will NOT be passing out Wagon popcorn at the Pack campfire this Friday.

Pack Campfire THIS FRIDAY!

Hope to see everyone this Friday night at our Pack Campfire.  This is a great opportunity to catch up with your fellow Scouts, or meet a new one!  Please bring a camp chair and drink.  We will have plenty of hot dogs and s'mores.

TIME:  6pm to 8pm
LOCATION:  1050 MLK Avenue (by Timber Hollow Apartments)
