Sign up now for the NC Aquarium Sleep with the Fishes Campout on November 12, 2016!  
Registration is limited to the first 30 people by the NC Aquarium.  Deadline for sign-up is October 28 or when we reach 30 attendees.
For $45 per attendee, you get to:
  • Spend a night with the fish at the Aquarium
  • Sleep in front of the 235,000-gallon Cape Fear Shoals tank as sharks, eels, and a sea turtle swim close by
  • Participants will learn about reptiles, sharks and will make your very own Gyotaku T-shirt
  • Eat breakfast and tour the Aquarium before it is open to the public
  • Snacks, craft supplies, and breakfast are provided
NOTE: TO PAY FOR THIS TRIP, YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE A CHECK MADE OUT TO PACK 825 TO BRIAN HATRICK AT THE NEXT PACK MEETING.  The price is $45 for each attendee; price is the same for children or adults.

  • Arrive at the Aquarium at 6 pm
  • No one will be allowed in or out of the aquarium after 7 pm
  • Eat dinner before you arrive.  The aquarium provides a pizza snack, but it is insufficient for dinner
  • PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING. Sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, cots, and air mattresses are allowed.
  • Other suggested items to pack:
    • Comfortable sleepwear suitable for a co-ed group
    • Toothbrush
    • Toothpaste
    • Washcloth
    • Facial soap
    • Hand towel
    • Any medications you will need

  • 6:00pm Arrival
  • 6:15pm Scavenger Hunt in Marine Building
  • 6:45pm Shark Program
  • 7:15pm Pizza Snack (One slice of pizza per person, plus beverage)*
  • 7:50pm Reptiles from the Cape Fear
  • 8:45pm Gyotaku
  • 9:15pm Snacks (Chips, salsa, popcorn, granola bars, etc.)
  • 9:45pm Prepare for bed
  • 10:00pm Movie
  • 11:30pm Bedtime
  • 7:00am Wake up
  • 7:30am Breakfast (Danishes, muffins, fruit, orange juice, milk, and coffee)
  • 8:00am Begin touring the building

Reptiles from the Cape Fear
Learn about the habits and habitats of various reptiles of the Cape Fear Region with this live animal presentation. Alligators, turtles, or snakes will be highlighted.

Sharks Inside and Out
Participants will learn the characteristics of sharks in this interactive presentation on shark anatomy and behavior. Discover how sharks swim, why they have no bones, and how they replace their teeth.

Gyotaku
Learn Gyotaku, the ancient art form of Japanese fish printing. Discover the history behind this craft, and make a Gyotaku T-shirt to take home.
